Benefits of Renewable Natural Gas

Ontario County

GCV has completed all major development tasks for a dairy-RNG project in Ontario County, NY that will produce about 300,000 MMBTU per year of ultra-low-CI RNG (-250gCO2/MJ based on GREET). The project will also produce about 12,000 tons per year of food-grade CO2 that could be used at oil refineries or food processing, and digestate that will be returned to participating dairies. The project will avoid emitting about 100,000 MT CO₂eq per year.

The RNG will be injected into the nearby Empire Interstate pipeline, from where it can move to Saint John via the TC Energy Mainline at Chippawa, or the Tennessee Gas Pipeline / M&NP corridor.

The project will be located on a 10-acre site on state Route 5 and 20 in the Town of Seneca, NY. Over 75% of the manure will come from dairies within six miles of the project site to limit trucking costs.

GCV has also secured the Investment Tax Credit (ITC) that is expected to reduce capital cost for eligible equipment by 40%. The ITC combined with revenue from CO2 sales allows the project to offer attractive offtake pricing.

Developed at the Spruce Haven Farm in Cayuga County, New York, this project produces 50 million cubic feet of RNG each year from on-site dairy waste feedstock. The RNG supply delivers to a local natural gas pipeline serving its regional distribution system.

Located at the Spruce Haven Farm in Cayuga County in the Finger Lakes region of New York, this project incorporates an existing anaerobic digester that generates biogas, which is used to produce renewable electricity. The project produces approximately 85 million cubic feet of environmentally friendly RNG each year.

The project at El-Vi Farms, which is located on the border of Wayne and Ontario counties in upstate New York, will include the construction of a manure digester and gas upgrading equipment. The project produces approximately 55 million cubic feet of RNG annually that will be delivered to a local natural gas pipeline serving the regional distribution system.

This project is constructed at Bergen Farms and Glenview Dairy, both located in Schuyler County in upstate New York. The project includes the construction of a manure digester and gas upgrading equipment at each location. The project produces approximately 150 million cubic feet of RNG annually that will be delivered to a local natural gas pipeline serving the regional distribution system.

This project is constructed at New Hope View Farms, which is located in Cortland County in upstate New York. The project modifies an existing anaerobic biogas facility to generate RNG. The project includes the construction of gas upgrading equipment at the existing facility. The project produces approximately 35 million cubic feet of RNG annually that will be delivered to a local natural gas pipeline serving the regional distribution system.

We acquired an out-of-service biomass briquetting plant in southern Georgia and converted it to produce 150,000 tons of wood pellets per year. They are sold to major utilities in the European Union. The pellets are co-fired with coal in power plants to help utilities achieve their renewable energy targets.
